snapshot agent shut down (SQL Server 2000)

Please post the error message....I used to know that one off the top of my head, but not anymore

What sort of replication?  All three types use the snapshot agent

It is Merge replication.

There is one Snapshot Agent and one Merge Agent. But only Snapshot agent shut down after the replication. The merge agent is running.

I check the sql server log, and find the message as following at the time when snapshot agent shut down.

The snapshot agent will only run when a new snapshot needs to be generated.   Go into the replication monitor and look for the red X on the snapshot agent...that is the best place to get error details.

I went into the replication monitor, but there is no the red X on the snapshot agent there.

There is only one record there, see the following:

I guess there is no error for snapshot agent, just for some reason the snapshot agent shut down. what is the reason?

The snapshot agent shuts down when it is finshed.  Look at the schedule it runs on.  It will wake up periodically, look to see if any subscribers need new snapshot, and go back to sleep if not.  I think. :-)

No red X means you have no errors
