Microsoft Flight Simulator 9.1 - Undock Hangs

I'm wondering if anyone has the problem that the Server PC stops every 10 secs for about 0.5 sec then resumes?

I'm running FS9.1 and WV2 on an AMD64 3200 with 1GB RAM on WinXPpro. It uses an AGP Radeon 9600 dual head with 256MB.

I have 2 screens hooked up to the computer. One for the guages and one for the external front view in Window mode.

There is nothing else on the computer but FS9.1 since it is a dedicated machine for FS only. I have no Anti-virus or other programs running. My FS has not been modified (no addons except WV) and is the default installation with the original CD4 in the drive.

If I run FS on 1 screen only with panel and outside view in a single window, it works perfectly. Frame rate is set to 30 and it delivers! FS is very smooth and does not stop nor hesitate. That's wonderful!

Now, if I undock the WV guage, FS starts to hesitate by stopping every 10 secs for but a split second. I must add that the frame rate still shows 30 fps. I noticed that everything in FS stops when this hesitation occurs.

Does anyone have a clue? I've even changed the graphic card which has not solved the problem.

Is there any hard drive or cd  activity  at this time?  That's usually what causes my games to stutter the odd time.

Thank you both for your posts.

I had already installed the patch...

I came to the realization that there is indeed a process which is operating while FS is running.  It was right under my nose!  It finally occurred to me while I was trying to re-build my FS software setup.

It turns out that I have a flight instrument which runs as a 16-bit Win App.  It must be doing some sort of polling or updating.  The only fix for the moment is to remove it; however, I need to have it running.  I've contacted the programmer and he's working on it.

Best regards,

- Robert.

Oops, just the one post, I should say.

I guess I should close this question? I'd like to award the points to dxf224 for effort, if that's ok with management.

That's okay.  Just go to community support and ask to delete or paq the question.  You figured it out yourself.

Agree. I couldn't find the community support link that allows PAQ or delete, as dxf224 suggested.

TIA,

Robert.

It is in the upper right of the page under Support.

Thanks mcwojtekk.

I was scouring this site looking for a clue as to how/where to PAQ - what I see under Support (upper right) is "My Account"   "Premium Services"   "Bookmarks"   "Logout"...

But it's done for now - next time I'll ask for explicit directions.

Best regards,

Robert.

I meant "under support" as in "Click On Support". You will be in the Community Support TA.
