Sybase 11 Driver Error 126

I'm trying to connect a frontend to a backend database and I'm coming unstuck at the ODBC level.
The OS is Windows 2000 Pro and when I go to the ODBCAD32 console and try to create a Sybase 11 Driver connection, I keep getting Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 126 (Sybase System 11). Do I need to either path or reregister the drivers?

I found one reference to a case that was solved with the following steps:

1) Delete four files from C:\winnt\system32 (could be C:\windows\system32 for you):
sysybnt.dll
sybasnt.dll
syutlnt.dll
syodbc.lic.

2) Reboot the machine.

3) Reinstall ODBC dlls to the system32 folder from a current Sybase ODBC EBF (patch).

I found another reference that said the problem was using the old System 11 driver. What version of Sybase are you connecting to?

Good luck!

Thanks for getting back to me. I found these too, and followed it to no avail. It still (frustratingly), gave out the same error. I also created Pathed variables, but still without success.
I don't know that this will be helpful to you with your specific problem, but most (>90%) ODBC problems I've ever had have been fixed by reintalling with a more modern/recent version.

Sybase System 11 as an ODBC driver hasn't been current for more than six years, and Sybase is pretty good about being backwards compatible. I'd try picking up a driver from a more recent version.

If you don't have a licensed more recent Sybase Client CD handy, there's always the various free versions (Express Edition for Linux, Developer's Edition for any platform - note you don't care about platform as you aren't after the Server CD, just the Client CD).

Another thing to check is whether your Sybase directories have spaces in them. Older versions didn't like that, and I'm so used to not putting spaces in that I don't know if more recent versions deal with it any better.

Good luck!
Thanks Joe.

It worked. I installed from the client CD and it was spot on.

Cheers
