Internal error upgrading to XP SP2
Hi,
I have a system that will not install XP SP2 it gives me an internal error. When I installed MS Antispyware it found 38 threats I removed them, then MS Antispyware need to be remove due to error messages. Defrag, clean disk didn't seem to correct this problem. What should be done that I may not have tried. I would normally delete the windows directory with deltree but it seems like MS got rid of that command.

Sorry,
Internal error 2254 was from installing Easy CD Creator 5 basic. I wonder if these errors are from having wireless mouses?

You need to run
chkdsk c: /r
It will prompt you if you would like to run chkdsk the next time the system restarts. Tell it yes, and then reboot. Check Disk will then run as you are booting up. This is necessary because the program needs access to all files, and while windows is loaded some files are locked and inaccessible.

The chkdsk worked doesn't that just check the physcal drive? I need to run a test on the registry. I down loaded a uninstall program to remove lost programs. It worked half a@@. I will run XP SP2 again.
Chkdsk actually checks the integrity of system files, including the ones housing the system registry. It repairs them if possible/necessary or marks them as unusable if it has to.

I partition the drive and reloaded applications thanks for the Head sup.

They will help you diagnose and remove the application.
What is the specific error code you're recieving during the installation? Can you check your system and application event logs for other relevant information?
