Multiple Machines with Linksys Wireless Router & Pass Through

Hey All,

Here is my issue....   I have two laptops behind a linksys wireless router (one wired, one wireless).  I can VPN into my RRAS server at work with no problem from either one of the boxes...  but once I do, and then logout, I can't initiate a VPN connection from the other machine until I reboot the first one.  It hangs at verifying username and password, then comes back with a server not responding error.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
~mike

The Linksys will only support one VPN passthru connection at any point in time. The way it does this is that once it sees a machine initiate a VPN connection it sets up some automatic forwarding to send all of the VPN traffic to that internal PC. It would seem to me that even after you disconnect the first PC, the linksys is still sending all of the VPN traffic to this PC, rather than the second PC you are now trying to VPN with.

You could try a firmware upgrade for the linksys device, as this behaviour (not stopping sending traffic to first PC whensecond PC initiates VPN) could be fixed in a new firmware release. Other than that, you may have to just deal with it as you have been.
