How to add a shortcut to everyone's desktop thru group policies

Is there a way I can ADD a shortcut to the desktop of all users in a certain group, maybe thru group policy?  I saw that you could specify the 'location' of the desktop of a user thru GPOs, but I dont want to replace their desktop, but simply to add a shortcut to it.

pauljnye,
I've accomplished this in the past by simply putting the shortcut on a file server and use a logon script (via group policy of course) to copy the file to %userprofile%\Desktop

that should do it just fine!

How do you 'copy the file to %userprofile%\Desktop'?  Where is this folder supposed to be?  Are you meaning that I should redirect everyones desktop to the server, or keep all the desktops local?

no what I am suggesting is to create the shortcut manually on just one person's desktop. then copy this shortcut to a share, anywhere on the network. for this example, lets say we move the shortcut to \\MYSERVER\MYSHARE

then in the logon script, all you'd need to do is add a line something like this....
COPY \\MYSERVER\MYSHARE\MyShortcut.lnk %userprofile%\Desktop

That line will copy the shortcut to every users desktop when they logon. Notice this has nothing to do with rediecting everyones desktop.
