I am trying to install windows 2000 advanced server.  I get the screen about scsi drivers. Then I get the following error setupdd.sys could not load. error code 7. Hit any key to exit.  I tried the install on 4 different type pc's includeing a Dell  and get the same thing.
Anyone got a clue as to what this is telling me?  Removed all extra cards and turned of all bios caching.

Did you mean cd drive or cd? I tried 4 different cd drives and only have one CD.

A different CD.

Then get another CD.

I've had similar problems (and I think once, the same problem) and even though the CD LOOKED ok, it wouldn't work.  If you have to, make a new slipstreamed CD.

Here's some links for slipstreaming:

I've had the same thing, once I simply made a copy with Nero and the copied one worked fine.

coping does not help
microsoft web site says that the install doesn' t like some type of hardware, but I had win 2000 pro on the computer before trying to install server and it didn't complain.

going to try using win 2000 setup floppies to start install.

Then microsoft must be write.  They're never wrong.  Their software is always perfect anyway.

Believe Microsoft - or believe the experiences of others.  Your call.  Make a slipstream version.  Or make a copy of the CD.  What does a copy cost you?  25 cents and 4 minutes?  You'll wait longer to use the floppies.
