how to remove characters at certain column in file
What command can be used to delete the characters on all lines of a file at a certain position?
Like: remove the characters at the 5th position (column) on all lines in file.
There's no delimiter avilable in the file.
(doesn't matter shell, or sed, or perl,...)
Thanks.
