asked on

atkbd.c Unknown key released

whenever i am in the console (level three runlevel) i seem to get an error whenever more then one key is pressed at the same time. the error is

atkbd.c Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0x81 on isa0060/serio0).
atkbd.c use 'setkeycodes e001 <keycode>' to make it known.

does this have somthing to do with my keyboard setup?
how would i go about fixing it? it's not a problem just a little bit of a pest.

I'd suspect it might be your keyboard as I've not seen that on any other Linux system. Have you tried swapping out the keyboard?
is it some sort windows keyboard with those fancy internet keys and stuff like that ??

jlevie. i've also recieved the ame error on a computer at work so i not sure wether it is the keyboard (the computer at work only has a very old keyboard so that might be a bit suss).

surya prabhakar. it's a microsoft wireless multimedia keyboard and mouse package. it's got microsoft windows keys, multimedia and shortcut keys on the top and shortcuts on the function keys (press fn lock and you get the shortcuts like cut, save, spell check press fn lock again and you get the standard function keys).

i changed the batteries but that didn't fix the problem.
What Linux are you using?
fedora core 2
