I have a belkin F5D7630UK4A ADSL router (11G + backward compatible to 11B)

it sits downstairs by my master phone socket plugged into the ADSL filter. Is there any way I can increase the signal strength in software as it sometimes diconnects due to low signal. Might e the thick walls in the house???

Will it be a stronger signal if i change the router to 11b mode??

Will the power sockets make the signal weak as there are a few (3) near where the router is situated.

No, you won't be able to increase the signal strength with software.  It's quite likely that the thick walls are what's causing the problem.  If you've got a cordless phone that operates in the 2.4 Ghz frequency, that could also be causing interferrence, but I doubt the power sockets are having any negative effects.  Changing the mode to 11b will probably not help.  The best thing you could do would be  to move the router and PC so they're closer together.  If that's not possible, you might get a wireless repeater, which is a separare device that boosts your wireless signal strength.

Good luck!

Oh and you might also buy a better antenna for your PC if possible.

Thank!  (And as a matter of fact, I was looking around on this issue, and some people say that 11b may be slightly stronger.  I sortof doubt it would be a noticable difference, because while the signal might be stronger, it's still slower.  You might try it anyways, but an antenna or repeater is the best solution)
