QUICKBOOKS REPORT NEEDED: TIME BY DAY

I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER QUICKBOOKS 2005 ENTERPRISE TO TRY TO FIGURE OUT IF THERE IS A REPORT THAT IS SIMILAR TO WHAT I NEED. BASICALLY ALL I WANT IS A REPORT THAT GIVES ME A LOG OF ALL OF THE TIME ACTIVITY SLIPS ENTERED SORTED BY CLIENT AND THEN SORTED BY DAY. QUICKBOOKS PROVIDES A FEW OTHER REPORTS HOWEVER THERE ARE GROUPINGS THAT JUST CAN'T BE REMOVED. FOR EXAMPLE, THE TIME BY JOB SUMMARY REPORT GROUPS EVERYTHING BY THE ITEM AND THERE IS NO WAY TO REMOVE THIS GROUPING. ADDITIONALLY, THE CUSTOM TRANSACTION DETAIL REPORT LISTS EVERYTHING OTHER THAN TIME SLIPS. IT IS ALMOST LIKE QUICKBOOKS BOLTED BASIC TIME FUNCTIONALITY ONTO THEIR MAIN PROGRAM BUT FORGOT TO FULLY INTEGRATE.

Would there still be a Time Activity detail report under the Project report section? This used to exist in (much) older versions of QBks, and shows time details by job (ie customer/job) and date.

Yep there is a Time by Job Detail Report in QuickBooks Enterprise. This report is actually closest to what I really want. The only problem is that the report groups time by payroll item entered. I have found no way to turn this grouping off. Thanks for your help.

FASTECHS,

I might be able to help but I don't have access to any time data :-(.  Two questions...

1) Is the information on the report that you don't want
2) Do you have a small sample company file that you can provide with step by step instructions on how to generate the report that is close and what you actually want?

I actually figured out how to do this myself. The solution is very twisted. None of the reports pre-programmed give you this type of report. The closest report is one that lists the time by client however groups every service item that you have entered. If you want a simple report, that simply by customer lists all of the time without any additional grouping you need to go about this report a crazy way. First you start with a summary report, group it by employee and then drill in. When you drill in then it gives you the correct report which you can then memorize.

That's a neat solution in fact, making creative use of the drill-down.

Glad to know you got it solved.
