guys,

I have a Windows Update Service that is running on Windows 2000 server and things looking good. we have all computer in one group, which the un-assigned group. I just noticed that in the web interface for WUS I see that I only have about 480 computer while I know we have more than 2000 computers.
is there a way for me to verify that it is working, and how can add all computers to, so they all get updates?

Thanks guys

How have you assigned the computers? Registry or GPO?

Have you previously had SUS?

Are you aware WUS will be canned later this month and there is no upgrade path to the new WSUS - you will need to go through all this again...

You may need to run installselfupdateonport80.vbs from the \setup folder. WUS runs on port 8530 but previous SUS clients will still look for port 80, and that script migrates them across...

well,

yes we had SUS before, and I migrated to WUS. we are using port 80 even with WUS.

I am using GPO.

but this is bad news to me that I am going to have to go through all this again.

Thanks

Tell me about it - I only found out last week, and it turns out it was in the EULA that we had to accept to download and install the software. :( One of these days we'll read them... :)

Anyway - run the selfupdateonpoer80 script just to be sure.

Run (or download if you haven't got) the Group Policy Management Console - then you can easily review your group policy across the entire domain to be 100% sure that no computers are either missing out, or getting the wrong URL...

I have the Group Policy Management Console, and also ranthe SelfUpdateOnPort80.vbs, and said succeded.

I am applying the policy at the domain level, so I should wait for some time for changes to take affect, and then I will keep you all posted.

Thanks

I'm more concerned that there is another GPO that is interfering with your regular policy.

Running RSOP.msc (Resultant Set of Policy) on a worstation that is not registered will help you see what is what...
