setting AD password on remote site

Hi all

I am working in a multi site domain and need to be able to set the password on a certain account at one of the remote sites.  I am trying to connect to the user object by using the LDAP ADsPath functions but getting an error that there is no such object on this server.  I can see the object in AD users and computers and have Domain Admin rights so it is not a problem with that.  As a test I have connected in to a central server in the same site as where I work and it still cannot find the account so it is not an issue due to the slow link.  Does anyone have any ideas?

If you are connecting remotely e.g. via VPM you need to include the LDAP port number in your connection strings e.g.

        GetObject("LDAP://" & strServerName & ":" & strPortNumber & "/RootDSE")

By default the LDAP port is '389'.
If that doesn't work, please answer the following:

How are you connecting to LDAP?
Are you using the openDS object or another ADSI COM interface?
Please give me an example of the LDAP ADsPath you are using to connect to bind to this user?

Sorry that should be VPN not VPM.

    Hi RainUK

thanks for the input, although I have managed to resolve the issue myself.  I had inherited a script form someone and needed to modify it, he had set a constant with DC component in place of an OU.
