postgresql mirror of two databases over openvpn

We are looking at the following option:

1. two server, one on primary site, one secondary site
2. openvpn to communicate over the internet between the two site
3. one postgresql database on each site
4. we would set-up clustering between tabels of both databases.

Has anybody done something similar ??

Is this feasible regarding response time.
Our solution rocks on a single site,
but I fear we will get long response times.

We can live with a small lead time of the information being availble on the remote site.

In the mean time I have found that probably the best way of achieving this is to use dbmirror,
anybody has any experiences with it ?

dbmirror is based on database triggers that do remote updates as the data of the original table is changed,
looks like that maintains the transactional integrity providing the tables have a primary key.

don't know anything about its performance.
