I am doubtful if this is even possible but maybe somebody knows otherwise. I have a PIX515e firewall with VPN protecting my internal network. I am using Cisco VPN Client at a remote location and successfully entering the network. What I need to do is to somehow share the Cisco VPN Client's connection with a Cisco 7960 IP phone, preferebly by plugging the phone directly into a NIC installed on the computer running the VPN Client.  Is this type of configuration even possible?

No can do, my friend. The Cisco VPN client is secure for this very reason. Just think of the implications for the corporate network if any of your users could just plug in any old virus riddled, wormy computer to their VPN client and share the connection..
If you are using the VPN client, then your only phone option is the softphone. This is precisely what it was designed for.
Else, you would have to have a hardware-based LAN-LAN VPN connection that both devices can share. I do this with my home Linksys WRV54G connecting to PIX at the office.
