It will work fine with Server 2003. You just need to extract the files from the EXE and install the drivers from Device Manager.

You should be able to find your driver here if needed:

Number 3 is your network card.  It's unknown because you have to install a driver. Right-click it and select reinstall or update driver (I can't remember the menu items).

You'll also need your sound drivers #4, printer #2, and I don't know what 1 and 5 might be.

Did you install the chipset driver off Dell's site?

Just so you know, most of the XP drivers work fine with Server 2003.  If the EXE doesn't run, then you need to extract the files manually to a folder and point the wizard at the folder when it asks for a driver.

To get the sound working, do the same as you did for the network card.  You can use the XP drivers, extract them to a folder then use Device Manage to upgrade or reinstall the drivers from this location when prompted for a source.

The Administrator password you chose during the installation could be one of two.  First one is the Recovery Console Administrator password which is not the same as the real Administrator you log in with.  I normally make them the same so I won't forget.

If you want to change the Administrator account's password, log in with that account and press CTRL+ALT+DEL then press Change Password.  Otherwise, you can right-click My Computer, select Manage, then expand Local Users and Groups.  Select Users then right click the Administrator account on the right side - pick Reset Password from the menu.

That's because the boot.ini file no longer has an entry for the Server installation.

Add this line under [operating systems] as the last line:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Windows Server 2003, Enterprise" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptOut

BOOT.INI is in C:\ and is hidden.

Please finalize the original question (which I believe has been answered) - open other questions for different topics.

Thanks,
NM

Notepad is fine.

If you double-click the file it will open in a text editor.
