DNS servers in forwarders list MUST be configured to process recursive queries......error

getting the following error in my event view and network is slow. i have done the suggested fixes but they still appear.

The DNS server is configured to forward to a non-recursive DNS server at
DNS servers in forwarders list MUST be configured to process recursive queries.
  1) fix the forwarder ( to allow recursion
       - connect to it with DNS Manager
       - bring up server properties
       - open "Advanced" tab
       - uncheck "Disable Recursion"
       - click OK
  2) remove this forwarder from this servers forwarders list
       - DNS Manager
       - bring up server properties
       - open "Forwarders" tab
       - remove ( from list of forwarders
       - click OK

    Presuming that is not administered by you, but by your ISP - it's not processing recursive queries (at least not from you).  Remove it from the forwarders list, and stick another publicly available DNS server in there.  The one I always remember is  Used to be owned by Rhythms, back when they existed, now probably owned by Worldcom - in any event, it's still serving up DNS.

    Is that your ISPs name server?  If so, you may want to ask if it should or should not be allowing recursive queries.  But I agree with ckratsch that trying another server would be an easier solution.

    Minor update if anyone is interested - is no longer responding to DNS queries. still is, but who knows for how long.
