create patterned line effect in flash

Hi

I'd like to create a patterned line effect in flash. Till now, I've been creating the graphics in .psd using 4x4 pixel blocks, filled with a horiz. or diag. pattern, then filled a selection with that pattern - then saved the graphic for whatever size i need, and imported to flash.

is there a way to add patterned effects in flash, so that i can use scalable vectors instead of annoying jpegs?

thx

choose bitmap from the color mixer and you can use this for fill. If this is what you don't want to have to do, then the only thing as far as I'm aware you can do otherwise is
Modify->Bitmap->Trace Bitmap, to covert a bitmap image to vector. Once that is done you can delete the bitmap from your library. But the results can be either almost as large, or a bit dodgy, depending on how fine a detail you choose.

hi Billy

not quite what i was looking for
instead, i've continued to create bgs in .psd, then saved them as gifs and dropped them in as the bg - works well enough
doubt there'll be many more responses to this thread, so points are your bud!
thx

ta for the points.
Have you looked at the colour swatch panel in flash - you can import swatches and use them for fills - and it may be better that way for smaller file size.

good idea - i'll check that out
might be a good way of achieving the same effect, using the 4px x 4px concept
cheers:)
