Hello,

I have a CR connected with a Paradox DB containing Memo fields,
when I produce report I get only first letters of the memo fields .
The same I get when I export the report into Excel.

How can I extract entire memo field's data ?

Thank you in advance,
Shabby

Which version of Crystal?

It should extract without a problem.  Did you set the field to GROW?

Open the report
Click on the field in the report
Right click and select FORMAT FIELD
Set the CAN GROW option

The field will only grow vertically so make sure it is sufficiently wide so the growth isn't too tall.

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

Unfortunately, neither Can Grow option , nor the hotfix (downloaded from CR site) helped...

What database connection are you using? Does it support large memo fields?

What "SQL"/query are you using?

Again - Which version of Crystal?

I'm using ODBC MS Paradox driver (*.db) 4.00.6304.00,
DB Type: Paradox 5.x,
Driver's Collating Sequence: International,
Page Timeout : 600
Exclusive unchecked

CR embedded inside VS .NET 2003

Don't know, unless the ODBC driver has a limit.

You say you are getting just a few characters.  How many is that?

one or two first characters of the memo field/

I also tried to enlarge the field in CR design (width/height) - no use...

Sounds like an incompatability with the database driver.  Is there a newer one?

I checked the report in CR 8.5 (with  Can Grow option checked) and it worked ok.
I also checked it in VB6 and it is still correct - memo fields are displayed ok.
Once I get into vb.net I receive first letter in the memo field ...

When you migrated to the .Net did you update the report to the new Crystal format?

Now that I just added the report to .NET project without (!) opening it, .i.e
withou updating it inside .NET it shows up ok- but once I even accidentally click on it to open/upgrade it - it fails again.

Have you updated the database drivers from the Crystal site?

I have received a link to hotfix, but seemingly it doesn't work for .NET's CR version

Finally I resolved the problem - not adding the CR (.rpt) document to the .NET project but creating a COM object by CreateObject function and calling an external report designed in CR 8.5
