I'm having trouble finding resources or tutorials on how to write a new audio/video codec from scratch. This is for several custom formats that I have created

Have you looked at using the DSPack....

http://sourceforge.net/projects/dspack

Many examples can be found via Googles News Groups, OR Experts-Exchange  search....

Down DSPack Here

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dspack/DSPACK231.zip?use_mirror=cogent

Zip file contains library and many examples of how to use DSPack

Sorry, I misread the question-

Here is a better answer:

There are many open source code initiatives on going as of now. SOme written in Delphi. Do a search for Delphi + Open Source + Codec

Compression algorithms
http://datacompression.info/SourceCode.shtml

Audio
http://datacompression.info/Speech.shtml

Video
http://datacompression.info/Video.shtml

http://www.vcodex.com/videocodecdesign/

Do a search on this page for "codec" there are many articles and open source examples.

Hope this helps!

You did not reply before, so I could only asume the last command helped you. You will not get your points refunded anyway, because you have abandoned this question. See also http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hi77

Then why leave the question open for 4 days if there is no other possible outcome... any why take a freaking year before you get to cleaning it up?

The links from shane point to pages with a lot of codecs. Source, theory, books, hardware, libraries. Therefore I think the answer is too usefull to delete this question. The mean reason of the cleanup is to move good, useful information into the PAQ and clear out old questions that were not answered or have no value to future PAQ searchers. Even though this did not answer your question, it can be usefull for others who search for this.

If you wanted this question to be deleted, you had this whole freaking year to ask for it in community support.

There are 4 days to discuss about my recommendation.
Here are the other options: http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hi89 What do you suggest from this list?
