Restriction of bandwidth and amount transferred utilization.

Hi experts,

I need to restrict users on the consumption of bandwidth and the amount transferred under linux. If this can be done in Windows, well... I'm not closed to suggestions.

Any idea about how to do this?

Thank you all.

as for the squid version (the userbased)... use logging in sqid.conf and then use a logfile-analyzetool

for the interface based I would not know a good choice directly.... you could use ipfilter/iptables to do logging, but that will slow down everything pretty much
