asked on

Outlook express export .pst location ????

Recently exported Outlook Express mail and addresses to a Outlook .pst file. The process kicks off without asking where you want the file to be located and finishes without telling you where it has deposited it ? Great help !

Have done this so I could pick up the .pst file in new domain profile. Now I'm stuffed 'cos I cannot find where outlook express would have dumped the the .pst. ried a search for .pst's on the HDD but came up with none.

Please help, thanks

you can : search for a      *.pst    file (first enable the "show all files" in the explorer settings)
or look in : (for win XP)

C:\Documents and Settings\Norbert\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
sorry, above read your user name instead of norbert like :

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

Agreed that this is the "normal" location for an outlook .pst , but when Outlook Express exports it doesn't seem to go to the same location.

Will have another look later - justin'
Hi,

What version of OE are you using?  OE doesn't in fact export to a .pst file (at least, the latest version doesn't), it will only export to Outlook, from where you can export to a .pst file.  Is this what you did?  If so, Outlook should have asked you where you wanted to place the exported .pst file.  More details on exactly how you exported from OE should help isolate what has happened.
Thanks for the reply,

I'm not on site right now but I think it was OE 6 and Outlook XP.

Although after I did the export to Outlook I assumed it would create a .pst file and this is what I was looking for.

I'll check the details later and get back to you.
Wondering if this will help you find it
