Auditing Users - Windows 2000 and 2003 Servers

I should be grateful if someone could tell me if there is a ways to check user(s) logging onto the the network and/or whether a user(s) has logged on and when.

I need to check when users are logging on so that I can complete a network audit.

Check your eventlogs, the security part. You can also select more or less logging when you right click the security log. In GPO you can select even more auditing levels.

To setup login/logout Event Tracking:

Administrative Tools
- Domain Security Polices > Local Polices > Audit Policies
- Define Audit Account Logon Events
- Define Audit Logon Events

Then when you go to the event viewer, you can filter by Computer, User, Etc... by:

Right Clicking System Log > Properties > Filter

Enjoy!
