Blat & SMTP Server

I'm trying to set up blat.exe to send messages from my computer to my Google mail account.  I can't get blat.exe to work.  I believe the smtp server I should use is my ISP's smtp server 'smtp.comcast.net.'  But, when I try to send mail, I get an error...

Here's my blat profile...

   C:\>blat -profile
   Blat v2.4 w/GSS encryption (build : Jan 15 2005 08:32:11)
Profile(s) for all users of this computer --
   SMTP: smtp.comcast.net "LarryAndro@Comcast.net" 1 25

Here's my attempt to mail something out using blat...

   C>blat tmp.txt -subject "Subj Line" -to LarryAndro@GMail.com -u LarryAndro@GMail.com
       -pw ******
      Blat v2.4 w/GSS encryption (build : Jan 15 2005 08:32:11)
     Sending tmp.txt to LarryAndro@GMail.com
     Subject: Subj Line
     Login name is LarryAndro@Comcast.net
The SMTP server did not accept Auth LOGIN PASSWD value.

However, I know I'm using the right password.  Can anyone help?

Hmmmmmmmmmm, I would have thought you need to supply user details to authenticate against the comcast.net server if thats what you are using. You are supplying your Gmail ID & password.

I could be wrong.

You're right.  I tried it using my Comcast username and password too, but it didn't work either.  Just now I tried it again using my Comcast values and it worked!  After some thought, I realized that the reason it failed before was that I was signed onto a VPN.  (I can reproduce the problem by signing onto the VPN, and can "fix" the problem by signing off the VPN.)

The working syntax (for anyone reading this message later) was...

C:\>blat tmp.txt -subject "Subj Line" -to LarryAndro@GMail.com -u LarryAndro@comcast.net -pw ****
