Easy Points!! Traffic Monitoring Appliance

Hi Folks,

Easy one for 500 points! (if you know about these things...)

I am required to buy a hardware appliance that will monitor traffic over a WAN link and if possible provide some shaping or acceleration abilities.

It needs to be portable so can be deployed on any of our links and should cost no more that £4000GBP.

Does anyone have any recommendation? Packeteer looks pretty good. Has anyone any experience with this or any other similar.

I look forward to your replies.

Do you want it to DYNAMICALLY monitor and shape/accelerate as needed?  If so, I would think it's going to be a lot more than 4000GBP.

The above is great but I would just get a packeteer and be done with it

I agree with CPTNS.  The Packeteer is a great tool/box.

Just another quick one.........if you are running Cisco gear, you can use NetFlow Monitor to have a look at the WAN traffic...........

It comes in at about £4500 GBP.........but the informatiojn you get is invaluable.......
