WINWORD.EXE has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.

I tried repairing/removing and reinstalling office suite 2000 and no cigar.  The other office products are working however Word refuses to do so.  Uggggh!

Any suggestions experts?

Thanks,

JM

rename the registry key HKey_Current_User\software\microsoft\office\(version)\word and retry. Also search for and rename the file normal.dot

start > run > type
winword.exe /a

If that works, you've got a bad template..since you replaced normal.dot and it still failed, plus it works in other users...that's odd. No other templates?

Do you have any add-ins?
Look here:
C:\Documents and Settings\{profile}\Application Data\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP
Remove any files found there (temporarily) and add them back one at a time.

Good Luck...

Mostly, the problem is related to normal.dot.

If i am not wrong this is the problem with a module which is conflicting with Winword.exe. Try sfc /scannow from run box in start menu. This should the job for you.

Let me know.

Thanks, SP

Thank you one and all. I renamed the normal.dot file and walked through launching the application via the run command.  Lots of grief spared with your feedback!
