I need to be able to remotely monitor the CPU/MEMORY usage of another machine. This is a windows 2000 professional machine I need to monitor.

The reason I need to do it remotely, is because this is a server running medical software. When the software starts, it doesnt allow you to do anything with windows. Which means, I cant use any local tools (system monitor or task manager) to view cpu usage.  So I have to do this remotely.

Are there any freeware tools that can do this?

Thanks

If you run System Monitor as a service, you can do the logging on startup and monitor it remotely.  You will have decide what interval to use so that you don't have enormous logs.

From http://www.windowsitlibrary.com/Content/329/22/2.html:

Secret: Running Performance Monitor as a service enables you to log data without being logged onto the system. I’d highly recommend you consider running Performance Monitor in this fashion when creating your baseline and logging data (see the “Baseline” discussion later in the chapter). That’s because I once found myself trying repeatedly to collect a week of baseline data, via the Performance Monitor logging feature, for a small software developer. I dutifully started logging system data via Performance Monitor on Monday, planning to return the following Monday to review a huge Performance Monitor log.
