Unable to access a delegated mailbox when added to all mail folders. Outlook 2003

User A has given user B editor permission to all items as a delegate. User B has added user A's mailbox to folder list tools> e-mail accounts> View or change> change> advanced, add mailbox, when attempting to expand user A's folders under all mail folders the following error appears: Unable to expand the folder, an object failed. An object could not be found. In the display area the following msg appears: Unable to display the folder, Microsoft Office Outlook could not access the specified folder location.

User B has four or five other mailboxes added and they all expand/open just fine. You can also open user A's mailbox by going to file> open> other user's folder> user A's inbox. I also set myself up as a delegate and get the same errors. There wer two other assigned delegates in user A's Outlook but only had permission for one item I removed them also and tried just user B with editor permissions to all folders.

    Accepted Solution

seems to be a permission issue on the Mail box:

    Procedure :
1 - In the main Outlook window, right-click on Mailbox ā€“ username at the top of the Folder List and select Properties. (If you are following these instructions to give permissions for another Exchange feature, select the feature from the Folder List and select Properties.)
2 - Select the Permissions tab.
3 -  Click Add, and choose your delegate's name from the list.
4 - Highlight the delegate's name. At Role, select the appropriate role for your delegate.
    5 - click ok

User B has editor permissions over user A's mailbox and all contents, this gives user B permission to create items, read items, edit items and delete items. By the way both users are on Outlook SP1 ans XP SP2.

What happens when you cannot right click Properties on the user mailbox?  The error is: The set of folders cannot be opened. Operation failed.
