Is it safe to remove pcmcia card from 6506 sup card

Is it safe to remove pcmcia card from 6506 sup card.  Looks like the ios is boot of nvram .

set boot system flash bootflash:cat6000-sup.6-3-4.bin !

>CONFIG_FILE variable = slot0:switch.cfg
slot0 = your PCMCIA card.
You can remove it, but it looks like the config file is saved on the card and would expect it to be there upon reboot..
