URGENT - \aspnet_client\system_web\1_1_4322

Hi guys,

I just found in all my server sites folder, a subfolder like this:

aspnet_client\system_web\1_1_4322

inside this folder, I found 3 files:

smartnav.htm
smartnav.js
webuivalidation.js

I am a little worried since I never put these files there. Each one of my sites had those subfolders and files.

It is maybe because I installed SP1 for W2003, or is it that somebody hacked my server?

Thanks.

By the way... just in case I deleted the folders with the content.

These directories are created by the .Net Framework when you use ASP.Net content in your sites.

Deleteing them could be detrimental to the functionality of your ASP.Net applications.  (I'm not sure if there are recreated dynamically)

In general you should leave these alone - they are nothing to worry about assuming you have ASP.Net content.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your answer. The point is I don't use ASP .Net in any of my sites!

Is it possible than the folder(s) were created after W2003 Service Pack 1 installation?

Thanks.

I doubt it.

Are you sure you don't have any ASPX pages on your server?

Also, do you have any developers who might be working with Visual Studio 2003 that are connecting to the server?  This could also possibly cause those directories to be generated.

Sorry for the delay, I wasn't in the office.

100% Sure Dave. No ASPX pages.

Nobody is connected to the servers. It is a group of 5 Windows 2003 production servers.

What is the create date in the properties of the folders?  Does it correspond to when SP1 was installed?

I've got a 2003 server that I recently installed SP1 on that I has a virgin install of IIS on it.  I will check this later today and see if I have the same folders....

Thanks Dave for your answers.

The folders were created on each site folders. My server has 4 domain names, and the folder(s) aspnet_client\system_web\1_1_4322 were created in one of each 4
