Incorrect Volume Label

Hiya Guys,

I'm trying to convert my file system from FAT32 to NTFS.

I'm typing 'convert C: /fs:ntfs' into DOS and it asks me to name the volume.

When I type something in, it always says I have entered an incorrect volume label.

Is there something special it's looking for?

Many Thanks,

Pete

You need to name your volume with any characters try something less then 8, no spaces, nothing but letters.. Or you could just press enter :)

try the help section in diskmanagement, search for "volume name"

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

Get a parition manager called Ranish which you can get from here :

If that does not let you convert it then go to control panel --> Admin tools --> Computer Mangement --> Disk Management

and I am sure that will let you convert it, other then that there is parition magic which is my favourite tool of all time, that will definately let you convert it to NTFS :)
Also what happens when you type that command into the run dialog box ie go to :

start --> Run

and then type that command and press enter :)

Can't you leave it blank, then rename it afterwards?

If the volume already has a name , maybe go into my computer, right click on the parition / volume, go to properties and delete the name and apply that , then try and convert it :) So that the volume name is blank, thats if it isnt blank already :)
