Is there any variable through which we can control oracle session time out period

    You can provide your users ROLES.
    In the roles you can limit session and idle time.

    To kill DEAD (no software waiting on the client side) session
    in SQLNET.ORA file set

    This will kick oout dead sessions every 20 minutes.

    You can customize these parameters to fit your shop and developer environment.
