HP 810C Printer Setup on Win XP

I need to setup my HP 810C DeskJet Printer on my new XP machine using parallel Port cable.  When I use the original install CD-ROM I right click the install.exe file and select properties -> Legacy Install. The app installs mostly but the drivers are too old and do not install.  I managed to figure it out once on my other machine but I don't remember how I did it.  I appreciate your help.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Normally, you  can get it working with the drivers included in XP; so in the printer section, just do a add printer wizard and follow the screens.

on the HP page, there are no drivers  for XP :

control panel,

printers and faxes choose add new printer, select local it will either detect it via P&P or select LPT1 >> next

select your printer from the boxes >> next >> next >> next

If that doesnt work but it should use the have disk option when selecting the printer

Dear Nobus,

Thank you very much for replying to my posted question.  I apologize for any confusion regarding my point reward.  In the two years or so that I have been using Experts-Exchange, I have found that the best answers are those that include specific details even though they may seem mundane and unnecessary.  In your reply you said the following,

" in the printer section, just do a add printer wizard and follow the screens."

While, had this been the only response to my query, I would have found the wizard after going to Control Panel and I would have awarded you the points.   Rvision's response was a more precise answer to the original question, however, and left no room for error.  It was a complete answer and a "better" answer for my needs.  Not only did I feel it deserved the points, but that that type of reply is better for other users who are searching for an already resolved issue.  I did want to acknowledge your reply and did so by adding points to the original value of the question.  Also, your link was a valuable contribution worthy of an assist.

Well, WizeOwl, you can do the points distributing entirily as you like, no problem with that. If you feel a comment like this  :
----------------
control panel,

printers and faxes choose add new printer, select local it will either detect it via P&P or select LPT1 >> next

select your printer from the boxes >> next >> next >> next

If that doesnt work but it should use the have disk option when selecting the printer
-------------------
carries more  than :
"in the printer section, just do a add printer wizard and follow the screens"

that is up to you, but i do not see anything more in it....

Have a nice day !
