MS Remote Data Object (MSRDO20.DLL) Could Not Be Loaded

I am working on a project (EXE) in VB Studio 6. (SP5) and Apart from MS Windows NT Control and MS Winsock control 6 I need to connect to ODBC database.

For this purpose I wanted to include a MS Remote Data Object 2.0. Right?

So I went to Components, but is is not available there. So I do BROWSE for MSRDO20.DLL in system32 folder, find the DLL, selcet it. OK? Now I clik on APPLY and I get a message:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\MSRDO20.DLL could not be loaded.

I tried to get a newest dll from internet, saved it in the project path.. no difference.

Please, what am I doing wrong? Is there any prerequisity for this control? Or can't I use it in standart EXE project? I thought I can.

And probably does it matter that I have Win 2003 Server as my OS? I have no chance to test it on XP or 2000 at the moment.

Any advice apreciated.

For accessing your odbc-database, you don't need MS Remote Data Object 2.0
You'll need MS ActiveX data objects 2.x library
To what database are you connecting ? For the connectionstring, take a look at http://www.connectionstrings.com/

Well, Dhaest,
I will give it a try. I need to prepare the APP so that it will be communicating with multiple ODBC databases. For testing now with MS SQL and Access.
It is saving just a simple queries into the database.
Thanks anyway, i will let you know.

I was completly wrong. I was adding the DLL in components instead of references. I am sorry for taking your time.
Both MS Remote Data Object and MS ActiveX data objects are available and working fine!

No I created a generic SQL function which creates connection and recordset and everything works just great!

Thanks for the help.
