precompile and load on startup

In my web.xml i can use the <load-on-startup> tag to load a servlet when the server starts.
Is it correct to say that if I precompile my servlets then the load-on-startup tag has no influence ?
Does load means precompile or is does it mean put the servlet in memory or what does it mean ?

No, if some servlets depend on others then load-on-start up can have an effect.

It means that the servlet is loaded in the JVM and initialized via the servlets init() method.
