Hello there.

I have a cable / dsl router, a broadband cable connection and a Dell laptop with a 54g wireless netwrk PCMI card. Is it possible to build a wireless network where the modem plugs into the router and i connect to the router with my laptop to get the internet? Or do i need a hard wired connection somewhere in the loop.

Thanks for any suggestions

Dsl service ---- DSL/MODEM----- Ethernet Port
Ethernet Port --- Switch ---Wireless Access point
Switch ---Other device on your network

Or if you don't need other devices skip the swith

Does your cable/dsl router have a wireless access point built in? If not you will need a wireless access point with output that matches your wireless card. Such as 802.11a,b or g.

I have both wireless and wired at home like this:

    internet service ---- cable modem ---- Wired Router/Firewall ---- Port 1 Computer 1
                                                                                            ---- Port 2 Computer 2
                                                                                            ---- Port 3 Computer 3
                                                                                            ---- Port 4 Wireless Access Point ---- Computer 4
