Generic Flash disk driver for win98

Hello,

When you insert a flashdisk into WINXP it recognizes it immediately without installing.
Where couldt i find the drivers to do that for win98?

Kind regards
Steven

Most USB drives come with a Win98 installation disc, but if it's not available just go to the mfg's website and download the drivers.

There is no generic driver, although it's possible that two flash drives will work with the same driver (if, internally, they happen to use the same chips).  Get the driver from the manufacturer.  If the mfgr. is unknown, or doesn't have a Win98 driver, you may not be able to use the drive with 98.

Keep in mind that to use USB you will need Windows98 version second edition "SE".

Windows 98SE drivers should have come on a CD when you bought your flash disk. Otherwise, head down to the manufacturer's website and download drivers for the exact model of your hardware.

Most flash drives not utilize USB 2.0 technology. Make sure your Windows 98 is equipped with USB 2.0 support to take advantage of high-speed transfers.

Oh, dear. I'm sorry about posting a similar comment, didn't do it on purpose.

Just a correction: Most flash drives today utilize USB 2.0 technology.

USB works with Windows 98 (1st edition), and some USB 2.0 controllers will even work with 98 (1st edition).  In fact, some USB devices will work with the last version of Windows 95 (OSR2), for which a "USB Supplement" was published by Microsoft (it's flakey, and not everything works, but some things do).
