Recovering Emails and Contacts using Bart PE

I have a non-booting computer but I am able to access the contents of the HDD using BartPE. I will use Bart PE to copy the emails and contact (email addresses) on the HDD to an external HDD.

Two questions
1. What files do I need to copy from the HDD and where do I find them
2. How do I restore these into Outlook/Outlook express on a clean install.

Thanks

Simon

Outlook data will be in *.PST files, the default location is c:\documents & settings\<username>\local settings\application data\microsoft\outlook but they can be anywhere on the harddrive potentially.  The PST file contains the contacts and email.

Outlook Express (version 5+) uses *.DBX files to store email, default location is c:\documents & settings\<username>\local settings\application data\identities\<a big number>\microsoft\outlook express but the location can be changed as well.

Addresses are stored in a file called <username>.wab, normally in c:\documents and settings\<username>\application data\microsoft\address book

While it is entirely possible that all of the data is in the default locations mentioned above, it's also entirely possible they are not.  The easiest solution would probably be just to temporarily add the HD to the other computer, and do a full search for the files (make sure to include search hidden files and folders)
