Insert MP3 file in Outlook Express

I have Windows XP Pro and use Outlook Express 6 as my e-mail editor. I sometimes insert a midi file to an outgoing e-mail thru Format->Background->Sound. When I try to insert an MP3 file thru same procedure, I can hear it myself as I compose my message right after I have inserted it, but it cannot be saved and cannot be sent with the message to my friends. What is wrong? How can I do this? Is there some other program that will do it?

It cannot be done. mp3 and wmv files can't be sent as background sound...

But there is a workaround which you will find full intructions on here: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883355

To convert your mp3 file you may want to use a free tool like Goldwave:  http://www.goldwave.com/

Cheers :)

Restore individual SQL databases with ease

Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SQL Server delivers an easy-to-use, wizard-driven interface for restoring your databases from a backup. No expert SQL background required. Web interface provides a complete view of all available SQL databases to simplify the recovery of lost database

The Msoft instructions do not really offer a "workaround". They merely explain in so many paragraphs what you said in one sentence, namely that it can't be done.

The goldwave is not a "free tool". It may only be downloaded on a trial basis. And (if I am not mistaken) it does not convert to midi. And I wonder: How could such conversion take place, since an MP3 file has voice (song), while a midi file doesn't? Unless it can convert to some other kind of file that may be sent as background sound in OE e-mails.

Thanks anyway.

The following table lists the file formats that Outlook Express supports for background sound.

Audio files      .wav, .snd, .au, .aif, .aifc, .aiff  <--------- you would convert to one of these, not to midi
MIDI files      .mid, .rmi, .midi
Real Media files      .ra, .rm, .ram, .rmm

Sorry about Goldwave not being free.

http://www.thebeatlesforever.com/processtext/abcmp3wav.html <--- that is freeware and can convert your mp3 to wav for placing in email.

Cheers.

Are you sure that the ABC Amber Audio Converter (which can be downloaded from the site you mention) does not contain spyware?
