my friend has an old IBM laptop that previously had windows millennium installed, but is no more working. so he has to reinstall Windows. I suggested him to install Windows 2000. The PC has only 64 MB ram.
the internal cd-rom is broken. he has a iomega usb cd-rw and he should install windows 2000 from that external drive.
the problem is that (from IOMEGA) there are no drivers that can be used to detect the external drive.
Quote "Drivers are not required to be downloaded. All necessary drivers are included in the OS, except for Windows 95/98." that's wrong! Stupid IOMEGA...
do you know if there are some compatible drivers? so when the text "press F6 to add additional drivers" appear, he can press it and insert a floppy containing drivers that would detect the external drive, and he could be able to install windows 2000.
On IOMEGA site there are no drivers for Windows 2000, that's why im asking for "compatible" drivers also from other brands...
I need to boot from windows 2000 floppy disks and I need to detect the external drive, else it's impossible to install Windows2000.
I tried to create a windows 98 boot disk containing dos drivers to the external drive. i runned the win98 installation and i got the error that it requires at leat 16 mb of ram to go on... but the PC has 64 mb of ram! if i try to run the windows 2000 installation using the windows 98 boot disk, it doens't work.
installing windows millennium doesnpt work either...
thanks for letting me know.
