"The page cannot be displayed" after (some) file uploads

Dear all,

I am successfully using ASP.NET and C# to upload files to a folder on the web server. Unfortunately, the upload is not always successful. The attempt to upload some files results in a page containing this:

The page cannot be displayed

The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

Does anyone know the reasons for this unpredictable behaviour? Any pointers would be very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
