Using DTC with MSDE?

Is it possible to use DTC on a PC running the MSDE to update records from the client MSDE database to a parent SQL 2000 database server?

Actually, I can use this for another question, I see that MSDE can do various replication operations; some as subscriber, and some as a publisher - can someone give me an example of the role a subscriber is and what role a publisher is?
