Will This Hard Drive Work?
Can someone tell me if this hard drive will work with a PowerEdge 2600? The hard drive I'm looking to purchase is a Dell PowerEdge 73GB 06TXM Seagate ST173404LC. Thanks.

I've purchased a number of things on ebay and never had a problem. Make sure the seller has a 99%+ rating and look at the comments of those who (recently) left negative comments. It's PROBABLY fine, but you never know. I've bought new drives that were dead when I installed them... and I've had other drives last me 5,6,7 or more years.
Just to confirm, the drive in question is an SCA drive (80 pin connector, no obvious power connector). Seagate LC drives (I think all LC drives) are like that. That's what the Dell system will use if you put it in a caddy. If you intend on rigging this abnormally, then you probably want and LW or LVD drive).

Ebay is good but watch out for paypal and other such websites that offer payment methods, there have been various "bad" rumours with regards to these and cases of online fraud. Make sure the retailer that you are purchasing from is a well known and has a good rating as leew stated above and also if possible try and pay direct cheque direct payment method rather than paypal. Although most don't have problem with paypal, its worth being safe rather than sorry.

The hard drive did not work. It's about 2x too wide to fit in the hard drive slot. The PE 2600 takes the low profile drives, which I thought this one was.
