You use a 'pass through query' type in Microsoft Access. It passes the SQL directly to SQL Server (or whatever database server you're using)

You want to design SQL Queries in Access XP?

-Go to the Queries Tab
-Double Click 'Create Query In Design View'
-Once you've made your query you Press View then SQL View to view it as SQL

The MS Access Query builders are not recommended for developing queries. You're better off using Query Analyzer and Enterprise Manager.

Best way to do what you are asking is to create an adp (access project) connectoing to a specific sql server database.  You can then directly create views and stored procedures with the look and feel of traditional Access queries.  Hope this helped....
