HELP!! Remap Visual Studio asp apps to renamed web server

Hi there,

I'm still relatively new to Visual Studio. recently I was asked by our IT department to rename the web applciation server. The problem now is when I wish to open a Visual Studio project, the project goes off looking for the old web server name. Obviously it doesn't see it, and then returns an error.

How do I point my existing applications in Visual Studio to the new webserver name?

FYI:

Old server name - 'jwdevbox'. New server name 'tntu082154'.

Thanks,

Hi LoveToSpod,

You should be able to edit the .sln file for the project in notepad and change the location there.

Hi Tim,

Is this done in VS or on the webserver?

LoveToSpod,

You should only need to do this on the machine where VS is installed, locate the folder where your project sits and then open the .sln file in notepad. It should show the details of the webserver that hosts the project, you can then change this to the new server name and save it. Then open the project as normal from VS and hopefully it should work as you want it to.
