Color laser printer with Pantone Color Matching

Looking for a color laser printer with Pantone Color Matching. What's the lowest price I can expect to find in a color laser printer with Pantone Color Matching? Examples?

Lexmark C720 at around $900

Xerox Phaser 8400 at $1000 (networked model is less after $500 rebate)

Brother HL4200Cl at $1900

Of these, I've only used the Brother. I happen to like Brother machines, but it is a bit on the high side.

But remember, there is *no* desktop printer that can actually match Pantone colours. The only way to do that is by using Pantone's own inks - which implies using a printing press. If you look up the Pantone swatches that show spot and process colours side by side, you'll see that Pantone can't even match their own colours using CMYK. And of course, every printer uses its own CMYK, different from all others...

As for which printer, make sure it's a PostScript printer. The 3 mentioned by lherrou are, as are many others. I'm a bit disappointed in the colour accuracy of the Xerox Phaser 8400 though; the earlier models (e.g. the 860 or 8200) seemed better. In my mind the Phaser 6250 is also better. I would also ignore any HP offering if you want accurate colour. The Xerox printers are Pantone certified. Not sure about Lexmark

The very low-price colour lasers are all GDI printers (relying on Windows' graphics engine to do the work) and are not recommended for Pantone work, nor do they get Pantone certification. The Lexmark has a lower price than the Brother (or the Phaser 6250) because it's only a 6 ppm printer in colour, rather than 24 ppm.

You did not mention whether you want A4 or A3 (Letter or Tabloid for you non-metrics). All the printers mentioned are A4/Letter
