So, after getting quotes from all the big boys, cdw, pcmall and so on I found
Exchange Enterprise 25 cal Open Biz LIcense, plus media and 1 server license around $5150.00
Exchange Enterprise Includes 1 Server Licenses 25 Client Access Licenses, and media average cost $6000
But if you really surf the web the retail box can be got for $2500 and $4500. It's crazy how dramatic the pricing is for retail box.

1. From a business perspective is there any difference that would make me purchase one over other? support, warranty, other? OPen biz license product versus retail product?
It's such a big cost savings that the clear choice for me is retail.

Are you comparing like with like?
Are the open licenses you are getting quotes for including Software Assurance? Remember there is a new version of Exchange due next year.

Also don't forget that buying licenses on one of Microsoft's schemes increases your points for other license purchases. If you haven't purchased Office licenses (for example) on Open then you will not get the benefit.

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the prices themselves, other than to say that as a Brit I wish I could purchase software at those prices.
