Generate PowerPoint with ColdFusion?

I need to dynamically generate PowerPoint presentations using data retrieved from a db.  I know CF can handle the db queries, but I had heard that it coud also generate reall .ppt files for output.  Is this true?  And if so, can someone point in the directin of some info on that?

Thanks.

I have never seen creating power point files through coldfusion.
You can create excel, msword, text files
but power point is not possible due to the way PP is made. There is designs and also inserting brakes between page ... all this is not possible in coldfusion.

Thanks.  A definitive "no" is more helpful than a tentative "yes".

That said, in the meantime I came across this:

"Do you want to generate reports in Excel/Word/PowerPoint format from ColdFusion? Try out our DynamicMS 2.0. More... "

http://gilgamesh-solutions.com/

Now, their system requires that you publish your presentation in HTML format, place it on your own server, and send a tag with the url of the presentation to their server.  Their system retrieves the file, converts it to PowerPoint, and serves it to you.

Any ideas how they manage to do this?

They might be using com objects or java/C++ objects to do this and that might be possible.
This is good finding, I will save this url for my personal referance. ColdFusion directly can not create the PPS in different slides or create excel file with multiple sheets.
Java objects can do it. so the software/custom tag might be doing that.

Free Tool: ZipGrep

ZipGrep is a utility that can list and search zip (.war, .ear, .jar, etc) archives for text patterns, without the need to extract the archive's contents.

Actually, that said, these guys tell me in an email reply to my inquiry that another option is to purchase their software and instal it on my own server, but that I must have ColdFusion!  So clearly it must be a CF solution.  What gives?

coldfusion custom tags are like DLL's ( not exactly but almost like that)
You have to put them in the your server. They can call the java objects or C++ objects.
ColdFusion calles the function or custom tag which will do the necessary processing in the other languages and return you the output in the coldfusion.
Thanks why we call them custom tags ... they can be written in the coldfusion or other languages. If it is in the C++ or Java it might be complied exe .
