Unable to backup with NTBackup

I am attempting to perform an ASR backup on our test server using NTbackup, but I keep getting errors.  We have backup Exec installed and this is able to backup and restore so I know that the problem isn't hardware related.  I have disabled the tape drive in backup exec and stopped all the services.  However when I attempt o perform an ASR backup (or even a normal backup) to the tape drive I get the error "The device reported an error on a request to MS_UpdateNtmsOmidInfo.  Error reported :11" and gets no further.  checking the backup log file gives more confusing info  - Error: C: is not a valid drive, or you do not have access.  I am a domain admin so I do have access, and I am able to backup if I put it to a file rather then the DLT drive.  Any suggestions?

Hi chris_bol,
Why Am I getting an Error "the device reported an error on a request to MS_UpdateNTmsOmidInfo. Error reported: 11" In Windows 2003 while using the Windows backup with the Internal Atapi/IDE drives?

If you have a VIA Chipset then you will need to get the lasted bios & driver upgrades for that chipset. The driver upgrade would be the IDE Miniport driver v3.20b. If you do not have the VIA chipset then you will need to check the Chipset Manufactures website that you have for the latest upgrades.

Dell recommend the above http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=pes_backup&message.id=2952 remember NTBackup IS veritas its just bundles with WIndows :)
