Server 2003 Unstable

I have a server 2k3 running with Excnahge 2k3.

It has become very unstable, and keeps coming up with a blue dos screen saying a fatal error.

This machine is an AD controller and I think I am going to have to go for a re build?

Is there any other options?

If i go for a repair, will it uninstall E2k3 because I think this may be were the problem is.

Will a repair highlight any problems, or will it just automatically fix them. Will it tell me if it has fixed anything.

I have my HD partitioned into 3 areas. C:D: and E. C has server 2003 and F is were all the shared folders are. If i re-imstall do I have to re-create everything?

I have a second HD which has a Backup of all the folders.

Obviously I would like to avoid a complete re-build if poss, but if this is the only option.

I am currently running Standard, if I upgrade to Enterprise would that put the system back together.

All Suggestions welcome PLEASE !!!!

Ok, fisrt of all have a look at your event logs..
Find any errors related..
Why has this occurred, any updates done recently etc..
What changes have been made..

I have installed Symantec Corporate, this was all running fine until I downloaded some virus updates, then all of a sudden it started crashing.

Sorry where are my event logs and what info will i find in there?
More importantly will it tell me what programs are causing the problems

The fatal error just gives me a load of numbers ETC
You should be able to return to a previous version of virus defenition to see if that will solve your problem. You could also just for testing turn off virus scanning for a short time.
Can you do a system restore on Server 2003 Like you can on XP?

Else will the logs tell you which progrqams are causing it to crash.

Apparrently it only lasts about 10 mins then crashes
Check the event viewer and post any errors here..
Disable antivirus for a while then see what happens..
administrative tools --> event viewer..
If it is Symantec, what version are you using?  9?  Also, are you running Symantec Corporate and the Exchange 2003 plugin scanner (Called Symantec Mail Security for Exchange?)  If so I have an identical set up to you and will certainly be able to assist.
When I go into event viewer and system

There seems to be 2 common entries both with red crosses at the side

the first one under source states event log

the second  states w32 time

I have just uninstalled V9 of Corporate and am about to install V10, hoping that this will reset any problems

Any ideas keep them coming, I need to sort this tonight
Be sure to check: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-security.nsf/529c2f9adcf33a1088256e22005026f1/bcdac2b5d7f7249088256e9e00827e26?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam

Please let me know the full error message for the first 'red' event.  State error coode, source and any other info you can.

Hope this helps.

I think I have nailed it down to Anti Virus

I have uninstalled it and re-installed, Dont seem to be getting any errors or crashes at the min

Hopefully all solved
